On the Rocks

You cannot come with me

on my journey

for these days my traveling companions

are selected with a more discerning eye

the same one which now inspects you

and finds flaws.

Former first mates

were less rigorously scrutinized.

If they hopped easily aboard

I thought them seaworthy

and pointed them

in the direction of the helm.

Some find it sad

how I now choose to travel alone

when it could so easily be otherwise.

I say

entrusting your course to other navigators

can end in shipwrecks.

Always be a poet. Even in prose.
Charles Baudelaire.

In essence I am a storyteller who writes poems. Put simply, I write the poems I want to read.[…]
